When arriving on Anguilla by air or ferry, the Immigration Department requires U.S. citizens to present a current passport and a return airline ticket or a current drivers license, a birth certificate and a return airline ticket.

Wallblake Airport serves airlines American Eagle, Winair, LIAT, Caribbean Star and Trans Anguilla, and receives flights from Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and Antigua.

There is also ferry service to St. Maarten, beginning daily at 7:30 am and running every half hour until 6:00 pm. Evening ferries run less frequently until 10 pm. One-way fare is $12.00 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.

The currency the Eastern Caribbean dollar; the current exchange rate is $2.68 EC to $1.00 US. Anguilla requires purchase of a driver's license when renting vehicles. Cost is US $ 20.00 and rental agents provide the license. Driving on Anguilla is on the left and the average speed limit is 30 mph. Car, jeep and bike rentals are available. Business hours for non-food stores are generally 8 am to 5 or 6 pm.

Anguilla's flat landmass allows cooling tradewinds to drift gently, keeping humidity low. There are no mountains or tall buildings and because there isn't much rain, the vegetation is low and the glare is high. The sea is close by even in the middle of the island, adding to the glare. The island is made up of coral rock that bounce sun rays everywhere. Good sunglasses are a must.
